Ingredients
1/2 cup yellow moong dal
1/2 cup rice
1 tablespoon ghee or oil
1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
1/2 teaspoon grated ginger
1 green chili (optional)
Salt as per taste
2 to 3 cups water
Optional vegetables (peas, carrot, potato)
Instruction
Wash rice and moong dal together until water runs clear.
Heat ghee or oil in a pressure cooker.
Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
Add ginger and green chili and sauté for a few seconds.
Add optional vegetables and cook for 2–3 minutes.
Add washed rice and dal mixture.
Add turmeric and salt.
Add water and mix well.
Pressure cook for 2–3 whistles or cook until soft and mushy.
Mix well and adjust consistency as needed.
Serve hot with ghee, pickle, or yogurt.
